I’m So Saddened and I Rejoice

I’m so saddened and I rejoice. Amid my celebration, in the midst of my joy. I’m reminded of the condition of the young man twenty years ago.

He thought he knew what life was. He thought he knew what was true to him. He thought he knew honor. He thought he knew knowledge. He thought he knew understanding.

He thought he knew sacrifice. He thought he knew what it was to be blessed. He thought he knew compassion. He thought he knew who was wise. He thought he knew who it was to listen to. He thought that he knew what success was. He thought he knew how to find happiness.
